Car Stops (limit use to flat track)

Car Stops are an economical way to close off a section of flat track where freight cars are moved at slow speeds. Stops can also be used on a loading track to separate one freight car from another.

Self Tightening Type: Wedge holds car stop to rail. Car stop is assembled on head of rail by tightening five bolts and driving wedge from the rear.
Stands 15-1/2" above top of rail.

Cushioned Type: Uses the cushioning capacity of the tie and a wheel-bump feature to lift the wheel slightly off the rail to absorb momentum of moving car. Recommended for industrial spur tracks which do not require a bumping post but which need more protection than a conventional car stop can provide.

$718.00
Weight 175 lbs.

Hinged, Locking Type: Hinged stops can be installed in exposed or flush rail. For flush rail, excavate a recess in the paving (outside of the track) to receive the stop when it is lowered.

Hinged car stops can be locked in upright or lowered position. When upright, the locking shackle grips the rail head on the gauge side. Use in pairs (one left, one right). Check bolt tightness periodically.

RAIL SKIDS

rail skid on rail

An alternative to car stops. Skids are useful for chocking rail cars on sloped track up to a one-half % grade. However, car brake must be applied and a steel wheel chock installed at the rear wheel. Also useful where flush rail prevents the practical use of car stops. The weight of the car wheel on the skid creates friction to keep the skid from sliding.
